8.8 Lionsgate

The Lion’s Gate Portal is an annual astrological event that reaches its peak on August 8 — 8.8.

According to astrology, Earth, the Sun in Leo and Sirius, the brightest star in our night sky, align in a rather special way. The portal is said to bring a powerful dose of energy, making 8.8 the perfect moment for creation and manifestation. A day to dream, make plans, set intentions — or simply start over.

Now, whether you believe in cosmic portals or not is entirely up to you.

But on August 8, at a festival in a Belgian city called Lokeren, a lion appeared on stage.

And for the next two hours, he had us mesmerized.

His name : Lenny Kravitz.

Are you gonna go my way?

There are artists who perform their songs.

And then there are artists who seem to become their music.

From the moment Lenny Kravitz walked onto that stage at Lokerse Feesten, there was an energy about him that was almost impossible to resist.

The charisma. The flair. The voice.

Rock star doesn’t even begin to cover it.

And at 62, the man doesn’t seem to have aged.

He seems to have distilled.

Oh Lenny…

What a sexy beast.

For two hours, he took us on a journey through more than three decades of music, all carried by that unmistakable Kravitz sound and an incredible band that seemed to breathe as one.

But underneath all that swagger, leather, rock ’n’ roll and undeniable sex appeal was something surprisingly simple.

Love.

He made it very clear that, to him, the most powerful force on Earth is love.

And standing there among thousands of people hanging onto his every word, who were we to argue with the man?

Beyond the 7th sky

Old songs. New songs. Rock. Funk. Soul.

One after another they passed by, slowly building the energy of the night.

And then something strange happened.

The first notes of Beyond the 7th Sky came through the speakers.

I knew the words.

Not some of them.

All of them.

Apparently, a younger version of me had been hiding somewhere in my memory all these years, patiently waiting for Lenny Kravitz to wake her up.

I had completely forgotten how much I once loved that song. It was never one of his biggest hits, but years ago, it was one of my favorite songs.

And suddenly there it was again.

Funny what music can do.

Sometimes you don’t just remember a song.

You remember the person you were when you loved it.

Let Love Rule

And then came the song that somehow seemed to have been waiting for us all evening.

Let Love Rule.

By then, this was no longer simply a concert.

Something had shifted.

Lenny had the crowd completely under his spell. Thousands of people singing, moving, reaching out towards him. And when he left the safety of the stage and made his way into the audience, greeting people, touching hands and hugging his fans, the place went slightly — wonderfully — insane.

The crowd seemed almost hypnotized.

And perhaps we were.

Because for those few minutes, Let Love Rule wasn’t merely the title of a song we’d known for decades.

It was happening right there.

Between an artist and his audience.

Between complete strangers.

Between the stage and thousands of people gathered underneath a Belgian summer sky.

Love given.

Love returned.

Multiplied.

Maybe there was something to this Lionsgate thing after all.

Maybe the stars really did align that night.

Or maybe it was just Lenny…
